    Bought this cork yoga mat after purchasing and returning a different brand's cork mat. The 42 Birds mat stands head and shoulders above the competition. The first thing I noticed was how lightweight it is, something that is excellent for people (like me) who walk or travel to their practice. The cotton carrying strap is an excellent, stylish, functional addition that reinforces the sustainability of the product. While not the point of the product, I can carry it like a fashion item on the way to class. This mat is perfect for all sessions I have attended: the cork surface is extremely grippy and absorbs sweat instead of having it pool. Follow the instructions and be gentle when rolling it back up (be sure not to fold) and I am confident that this mat will last you a long, long time. After doing more research into the 42 Birds company, I came away even more pleased with my purchase and I highly encourage potential buyers to read about the sustainable vision the company holds. Do not hesitate to buy this yoga mat!!

    Great yoga mat! The cork is grippy for hot classes or flow. I’ve been using a small towel in the location of my lower back to eliminate “back farts” Will consider a full towel if the false flatulence continues. Probs could eliminate the problem by wearing a shirt but that’s not gonna happen. Also has a carrying strap. So there’s that.

    Slip ‘N Slide when dry

    Wonderful cushioning, definitely my favorite mat I’ve tried as far as that goes. But this fricken thing is so slippery!!! Unless you repeatedly spray water where your hands and feet land on your mat, you slip and slide all over the place. I bought this mat with the promise of no longer needing a towel in hot yoga. I am easily distracted during yoga and having a towel on my mat was always something that pulled me out of my practice. While I no longer need a towel on the mat, I need to now use a spray bottle to keep it wet the whole first half of class before I really start sweating. It sucks. The last thing I want to be worried about in downward dog is my hands or feet slipping out from under me, and that’s all that I can think about. Going to reach out to the manufacturer and see if I can return it. I’m so bummed. I was so excited for this mat- the look, feel, eco friendly aspect, natural benefits, etc. Now I know I wasted my money on a mat that only works part of the time.

    I haven't done yoga for very long, but this is the best yoga mat I’ve ever tried! I love the fact that it's eco-friendly. Who wouldn't?! The grippiness of cork is unbelievable. What a difference vs the conventional mats which can be so "slippery" and also have the tendency to retain an "odor"… I highly recommend it!!

    Bought this mat because I do a lot of hot yoga and really wanted something non-slip. It is definitely that–no doubt. I love the natural feel of the cork and the slightly longer length of the mat overall.

    Only downside so far: I sweat A LOT, and while the mat is great for standing postures, once I was down on my belly and back I was wishing it absorbed a bit faster. If you're cool with hanging out in a pool of your own sweat (which I am)–then this mat is for you. You still won't slip–no matter what; but you will definitely still want a towel close by if you're doing hot yoga.

    Love this mat for so many reasons! It provides grip, but also allows your foot to move freely dry or wet. It also doesn't collect dust or animal hair like my other mats. Great for use in direct sunlight too, as it doesn't get a rubber smell like my other mats. I am a cork mat yogi for life!

    Fantastic mat my wife loves it! She does hot yoga at least four times a week and her standard gear was her mat and a towel for her mat. Each time she would have to wash the towel from all the sweat. Since she’s had this mat she retired the mat for the towel. This mat absorbes all of the wetness with zero odor. That and this mat doesn’t move and stretch like all of the other mats out there.

    This mat is amazing! While I love that it's eco-friendly, it's also become a huge help in my yoga practice. While I've been doing yoga for a few years, I am new to hot yoga, and this mat helps me get a good grip without sliding, and I don't need to bring a towel (or use the studios towels) anymore. It's become a game changer for my practice!
